I visited the Grey Horse on Saturday 23rd June 2012 whilst seeing some friends who live in the area. My first impression of the pub was a little mixed, the outside is clean & tidy, but there was a hand written "A" board on the pavement advertising some of the products on offer. Unfortunately, the sign looked like it was wrote by a child & the words "Fosters & Thwaites" were spelt incorrectly. The inside of the premises were well decorated & relatively clean. Now the bad news. It wasn't overly busy but there were quite a few dirty glasses on the tables. It took over 5 minutes to get served due to the fact that the barmaid had to finish her conversation first. The other main problem is the amount of dogs in the main room (I counted 8). I'm not a great dog lover, but, each to their own I suppose. I was amazed when the Landlord came down the stairs & placed food on the bar & tables, surely there has to be some hygeine rules being broken here? The smoking area is a small backyard with a table & about 5 chairs. The pubs wheelie bins are also kept in the smoking area, I wouldn't want to be there on a warm day. Also, there were a few patches against the wall, which I can only presume were dog urine. The toilets absolutely stunk & appeared as though they hadn't been cleaned for weeks. On the whole. It could be a nice pub one day, but under the current owners/tennants I would recommend giving the place a very wide berth.
